I am a barrister specialising in Local Government law and have a particular expertise in the law of Parish, Town, Community and other Local Councils and regularly advise on matters relating to common land and village greens, powers, finance and standards. I have advised a number of councils in respect of Community Governance Reviews and reorganisations. I am standing counsel to the National Association of Local Councils.

I strive to be approachable and accessible. I do not have a clerk and my clients appreciate the ability to contact me directly. Councils and individuals also find it convenient to instruct me directly under the Public Access Scheme.

High Court affirms right of Parish Meeting to demand poll

In an important ruling at the High Court on the 6th March 2009 Mr Justice Irwin upheld the right of Letchworth Garden City Parish Meeting to debate the way in which a local charity was governed and to demand a parish poll on the subject.
